Tour Description

The Private Accessible 4 hour Lisbon Guided Tour provides an intimate look at the fascinating, historic Portuguese capital city, Lisbon! This accessible guided tour is perfect for the disabled traveler who wants to experience Lisbon in a short amount of time, and can be tailored to your preferred pace and accessibility needs. There will be plenty of time to take memorable pictures, admire the sights and even to stop for a drink at an accessible café (cost not included).

Meet your accessible experienced guide at the Rossio Square (or Praça do Comércio if you arrive on cruise) where your accessible walking tour starts! Your guide is ready to share interesting information and anecdotes with you as you walk/stroll through this fascinating city. The Rossio Square is Lisbon’s main central square and heart of the city. The Portuguese people take pride in their great square! You can’t leave the city without visiting this square with its nauseating stone paving, grand fountains, statue of Dom Pedro IV and its beautiful neoclassical Donna Maria II Theatre!

From Rossio Square, you’llpass the famous Santa Justa Lift, a beautifully crafted elevator that transports passengers from between districts (depending on the time available you can choose to travel in this old elevator and observe the beautiful view over the city). Follow your guide through Rua Augusta with its hidden ruins and amazing triumphal arch opening up to the famous Comercio Square, Lisbon's monumental riverside square. On one side, you will have the Tagus River while stately government buildings border the other sides. This waterfront square marks the place where the royal palace stood before being destroyed by an earthquake. The square was developed as part of the reconstruction of the city after the earthquake.

Time permitting, an optional visit can be made to the Lisboa Story Center (entrance tickets not included) and can see, hear, smell and feel the history of the city and the famous earthquake and Tsunami of 1755.

Don’t forget to take some pictures of the absolutely breathtaking Saint George Castle. You wont miss this Moorish Castle, occupying a commanding hilltop overlooking the historic center of Lisbon, on your accessible Lisbon tour.

Your accessible Lisbon tour continues to one of the most elegant buildings in Lisbon, Lisbon City Hall. You’ll also see Figueira Square and The Saint Domingos Church, a macabre church that has survived fires and earthquakes. Your guide will share fascinating stories with you along the way!

As you walk/stroll back in the direction of Rossio Square, you’ll go through Rua das Portas de Santo Antão, a lively pedestrian-only street known for its delicious seafood restaurants. Even if you are not a fan of seafood, look out for the eye-catching tanks filled with gigantic lobsters by the windows. Here you will also see the classical Coliseu dos Recreios, the Lisbon Coliseum.

As your accessible Lisbon tour comes to an end, your professional tour guide will escort you back to the central meeting point, Rossio square (or Praça do Comércio if you arrive on cruise).
