Tour Description

On the Private Accessible 3 Hour Grand Turk Shore Excursion you will experience the best highlights of this beautiful island!

This accessible Grand Turk shore excursion begins with your professional driver picking you up from the Grand Turk Cruise Center or your accessible hotel in your private, fully air-conditioned, wheelchair accessible van, and head out on a short ride in the direction of Cockburn Town,

On the way, you’ll pass the beautiful Waterloo, the 1815 Governor’s Mansion named after the famous European battle. See the replica of the Friendship 7 capsule, captained by the late Senator John Glenn, and hear about the island connection with the Mercury Space Program.

Cockburn Town is the first permanent settlement on any of the islands, founded in 1681 by salt collectors. It is known for its long, narrow streets and old street lamps. While here, you will visit the local Craft Center for an opportunity to try some delicious local food and drinks, or shop for some locally crafted souvenirs. Next, you will make a short stop at the St Mary’s Pro cathedral built in 1899 -one of the island’s oldest churches!

Next, your accessible Grand Turk shore excursion takes you on a drive past the spectacular Columbus Landfall National Park, the largest protected area on Grand Turk. Enjoy the scenic and picturesque view from the Horatio Nelson Look-out at the 1852 Grand Turk Lighthouse. The lighthouse was built in 1852 to alert sailors of the shallow reef, it is also one of the highest points on the island. Today, the lighthouse and lighthouse keeper’s house are a historic site under the protection of the National Trust. The Lookout Point is named in honor of British Admiral Horatio Nelson who fought for Grand Turk's liberation from French occupants in March 1783.

Finally, view the birds at the salt Salinas along Church Folly, see the old salt ponds that were used to harvest salt for hundreds of years and learn about the importance of the salt industry for the island of Grand Turk.

After a great time exploring the island, this accessible shore excursion of Grand Turk will return you to the cruise dock in the comfort of your air conditioned, wheelchair accessible van.
