This 4 Hour Riga shore excursion gives you an opportunity to experience the very best highlights of the city! Explore the lovely “wooden heart” Agenskalns, admire the incredible Art Nouveau district, visit the Zanis Lipke WWII memorial and enjoy a leisurely stroll in Old Town Riga. You will also have time to visit and shop at the colorful Riga Central Market, Europe’s largest market and Bazaar!

Start your tour by meeting your tour guide accessible van at the Riga cruise dock. From here, you will set out on a short drive to the unique “wooden heart” of Riga, Agenskalns, located in the Left Bank of the Daugava river. This cultural and historical gem is a prime example of charming old wooden houses, Boehmian style arts and crafts and small unique restaurants and cafes. Escorted by your tour guide, you will enjoy a leisurely stroll soaking in the characteristic beauty of the area and learning about how Riga looked decades ago.

Next, continue your tour of Riga with a panoramic drive through the fascinating Art Nouveau district. Art nouveau architecture is one of Riga’s claims to fame, and rightly so! Admire extravagant, elaborate, flamboyant and funky buildings, as you sit back and enjoy a drive through what is the highest concentration of Art Nouveau architecture anywhere in the world! Have your camera ready for some beautiful photos! Your next stop of the day will be at the island of Kipsala. Here you will visit the historic memorial of Zanis Lipke, a museum located next to the former home of rescuer of Jews Zanis Lipke. This is where he arranged a shelter for rescued Jews from the Riga Ghetto during World War II. Learn about the story of how he and his wife were concealing Jews in their wood house and have an opportunity to admire the incredible view of the river across from the old town.

The final part of your tour will take place in the charming Riga old town. Escorted by your tour guide, you will explore the Dome Square as you are narrated through the significant buildings and highlights located here, including the beautiful Riga Cathedral. Your exploration of Old Town Riga continues along the old medieval streets to the Town Hall Square where you will see and admire the gabled buildings and the House of the Blackheads, one of Riga’s most treasured architectural landmarks. You will also see the traditional St. Peter’s Church, with history dating back all the way to 1209. Your accessible walking/rolling tour of Old Town also includes must-see highlights such as the famous Swedish Gates, Riga Castle, the Powder Tower, the Cat House, buildings of The Big and The Small Guild. End up at the colorful Riga Central Market, Europe’s largest market and Bazaar. The market is housed in one of the most notable structures from the 20 th century in Latvia, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Escorted by your tour guide you will browse the interesting market halls peppered with stalls selling Latvian-grown and homemade products as well as souvenirs and local art and crafts.
